Wow, its Saturday already - since Sandie turned up I havent updated - or EXERCISED!!!!!!! lol
After my amazing phone call the other night we are still in a bit of shock. Holy cow ... six grand ... just goes to show if you arent in you cant win! We've decided that we will spend it on something we wouldnt normally save for - a white christmas in the UK is looking like the ticket right now.Thursday was a cooler kind of day, we went over to Whitianga in the morning for supplies and had lunch over there also. Picked up a travel brochure from the travel agent! LMAO @ me
Had icecreams in the arvo - lazed about with sweat shirts on cos it was a bit drizzly and cold.
Friday we were up early, headed out @ 8:30am for Coromandeal Town. Again weatherw as a bit cool. We went to Driving Creek Railway. They have extended the line since were were there 3 years ago. The views were spectacular looking over Coromandel Township and the Hauraki Gulf over to Auckland.
After Driving Creek we went to Waiau Waterworks and played on the water inventions - had some great laughs - watching Craig drag his arse in the dirt on the flying fox. Had a scrummy picnic lunch we'd packed and taken with us. Fresh breadrolls, salad fillings, fresh fruit - YUMMO!
Came back over the "309 Road" - gravel road but only 29kms so that was fun. Stopped at the famous Coroglen Tavern for a coldie - the afternoon was heating up again!
A mate of Craig's Andy has turned up from Wellington so we all had dinner together - a bit of a communal effort - fantastic dinner - smoked chicken, sausages, fillet steak, salad, fried potatoes - everyone pooled together what they had - delish! A few bevvies later we thought we'd better hit the hay - it was 11:00pm! A late night in paradise!
Saturday was up a little later - Craig and his mate went fishing @ 6:00am so I stayed snuggled up and slept! Sandie and I lazed around in our PJ's drinking coffee and chatting until the boys came home. They caught fish! A snapper and trevally! My hunter gatherer finally gathered after 7 years of not catching anything!!!!
After breakfast we went out on the sea kayak and Sandie dropped a line in - she got a few nibbles ... we just about peed ourselves talking about it being a shark and being dragged out to sea LMAO! The creative minds of women eh? Shouldnt be so silly cos I later read an article in a fishing magazine about sea kayak and the dangers of big fishing being attracted to bait etc. We saw a penguin - it swam really close to the kayak. Also had a swim before going back to camp for lunch. A mate of Sandie's, Mark - an English tourist joined us for lunch - the party was getting bigger! LOL. We had fresh fish sammies! Sandie filletted and I just panfried them in a little butter with Cajun spice - beautiful!!!!!!!!
Weather today was primo!
After lunch the five of us just lay around the campsite, reading, sleeping, sunbathing, talking - until about 3:00pm - ICECREAM O'CLOCK!
Mark went back to the backapers hostel, we came back and went down the beach again - sea kayaked, swam but the wind had got up a bit so we didnt sit on the beach to dry off this time. Our afternoon shower was FANTASTICCCCCCCCC. We had drinks and nibbles while the boys went off fishing again :)
My wine bottles keep evaporating!!!!!!!!!!
Dinner was again a communal effort. Beef steak, venison, fried spuds, salad, mushies, onions! WOOHOO!!!!
Had an hearly night about 10:30pmish. Got woken up @ 1:30am with some nurotic wailing Scots woman absolutely doing her tits at her boyfriend because he didnt go looking for her after she went walk about down the beach after midnight - silly bitch ... god she was loud!
