Had a terrible nights sleep - kept waking up for some reason. Was glad when it was finally light and I could get up! Went for another walk this morning - up to the old Pa site on the south end of the beach. I walked the road and then up through the reserve - 1 hr round trip, up hill and down dale, home along the beach - made very interesting walking - views were spectacular - glad I took my camera. Sand is a total shit to walk on, however great for the calves. Once again I marvel at how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful country, and how thankful I am that I have chosen a new healthier lifestyle that allows me to go out and experience this beautiful country!
Home, showered and it was breakfast time again WOOHOO! lol - I love breakfast and of course not surprisingly I was starving! *rolls eyes*
WE went over to Whitianga after breakfast - we kinda thought there would ahve been big changes since the last time we were there two years ago - the new Whitianga Waterways - proposed medical centres and retail centres - but surprisingly its still a sleep seaside town - without a Warehouse! I bought some new flipflops for teh beach. Did our groceries and back to camp for lunch - cheese rolls - vegemite and lettuce - DEVINE!
We went sea kayaking after lunch!!!!! Absolutely slathered ourselves with sunscreen and carried teh kayak down the beach - thankfully the beach isnt far away - NOTE TO SELF: wash hands of sunscreen before kayaking!
Before we left home I look up information about the kayak and was disappointed to see that max load for our double kayak was 194kg! Now I'm 117kg and Craig is 107kg so we were really going to be pushing it LOL Of course as I do I get completely paranoid about shit like that however, we jumped on and it didnt sink! WOOHOO - We paddled the length of the beach about 50ms out from shore. It took a bit of getting used to. I sat up front - got told to slow down! LOL It was fun - as we were coming into the beach - Craig turned the bloody thing sideways and tipped me up and out!!!! PRICK! LOL Great workout for the triceps! We pulled the kayak onto the beach and went for a swim - the water today was BEAUTIFUL! Will take a bit of practice that sea kayaking - a new sport for the both of us - it was fun. Came back to camp and lay in the sun for just a bit - just so my togs could dry out - yep went kayaking in my togs and a T.
Before I knew it - it was icecream o'clock! So off we walked to the Icecream parlour for our daily fix. mmmmmmmmmm great stuff.
I'm halfway through my book! *impressed*
Had another swim just after 4:00pm - was a bit chilly getting in, but once in it took a while to get out again. Craig took his wallet for a swim this afternoon.
I had my evening shower, just cracked open my first bottle of white shiraz for the holidays - $8.95 a bottle - bless New World!!! LOL Nibbles tonight - rice crackers with garlic and onion dip - YUMMO! My hair is bleaching blonde already from teh sun. I missed a huge patch of sunscreen on the back of my arm and its bright red LOL - ouch!!! Dinner tonight is steak, gourmet potatoes, onions, mushroms, courgettes on the BBQ, + corn on the cob - camp cooking is THE BEST! I'm very excited I have hot chocolate and marshmallows for my bedtime snack.
Weatherwise today it was warm - about 25C, overcast with sunny spells, wind got up a bit.
2 walks, 2 swims + sea kayaking - YIPPEE!Craig is just taking a photo of me - SMILE :D
