Cant wait to get out in this glorious weather and start some gentle walking again I'm hoping by next weekend that will become a reality! yahoooooooooooooooooooo
I had a busy day yesterday, I think I talked most if it LOL with a couple of friends popping in and saying hello! Rose bought me a delicious chicken filo parcel and a REAL coffee I just about squealed with excitement over that one ... yummmmmmmmmm
John my surgeon rang yesterday also asking how I was going and how the drains were going. I told him the outputs and he said ... ooh if the left and the right stay under 50 tomorrow they can come out and I said ... wow cool, how will that happen being a Saturday and he doesnt consult ... and he says ... just jump in the shower and pull them out yourself *ewwwwwwwwww* he says quite matter of factly ... "most of my patients do it themselves" hehe So he gave me instructions on how to go about doing that and all the time I'm thinking OH GOD WHY MEEEEEEEE lol It's painless apparently, its just the thought of sliding slippery tubing out of my body just makes my skin crawl ... just like I bet yours is crawling now too! LOL
Anyway as it turns out, one of them WONT be coming out today. I decided to go to REAL BED last night ... I managed to sleep on both sides and on my back, but at about 3:30am I woke up feeling very uncomfortable so I got up went to the loo and found that the right drain which hasnt been doing much for about the last week - was FULL - 110mls! So thats put that one to rest for coming out today. Must have been the pressure of sleeping on my side which did something to it. I was moving about quite a bit yesterday and I've noticed my legs dont feel as tight today - so I think I need to make myself a bit more active - instead of walking around every hour, might start every half hour. baby steps baby steps - it seems to weird for me to be "starting all over again" when I think about where I got to with my fitness just two short weeks ago LOL I noticed on Thursday, I went downstairs to let my sisinlaw in and by the time I got back upstairs and sat back down I was puffing!!!!!!!!!! She said that wasnt due to my cardio "unfitness" just more about the anesthetic still working through my system. My sister agreed and said the same thing ... incredible how anesthetic can knock your body around like that.
One thing that hasnt been knocked around is my bowels - yep pooh talk LMAO! Made up this morning for not going yesterday thats for sure! I have noticed something different though. I dont know if its just me or anyone else but since the op, once I've had a decent dump, I can feel my stomach area shrink and everything feels lighter and empty. I've never noticed before feeling bloated when I was "full" - its quite a pleasant sensation and tummy feeling to have a good "release" LOL ... ok thats enough pooh talk for one day *giggle*
Craig's popped off to the gym this morning, first time in a week - hes missed it big time and I think he was looking forward to it. I handed him a wee shopping list for while he was out and he's also going to pick us up a gourmet sandwich for lunch - yay ham off the bone again! Come lunch time I get to have a shower, hopefully pull one of these drains out and then I asked Craig if he'll take me for a drive - just to get out of the house - maybe I can partake in another real coffee!
Right now though, I'm going to get some breakkie :D

Look at you just motoring on through it all. I love your determination, and the way you just do what you need to do. Love it! I wanna be like you!!
And yeah.. ew re: the drains. I've taken many out when I was working on a surgical ward, and the thought of doing that to myself gives me the shivers. But you'll be fine, lol. It's not supposed to hurt as you said, but I think it feels a bit tickly or odd as it comes out. The ones we used to use though were all stitched in, but yours musn't be if you can take it out yourself!
Enjoy that real coffee!!
What the fuck!!!!! My drains were stitched in place and the doctor had to take the stitches out before she could pull the drains out... I got them done in the hospital! AND it hurt like fuck!!!! Maybe I'm the world's worst sook.... but the girl in Wanganui tried pulling her's out on her own in her bathroom and SHE FAINTED!!! So may I suggest you sit or lie down and get Craig to do it??? And if it hurts too much wait for John to do it !!!!! I know we have had totally different experiences with this .... but I'm just warning you! As for going for a drive, fantastic idea.... you need to start getting out and about a bit, and definitely start wee walks too. Let me know how it goes with the drain please! thinking of you....
Just to clarify, the only painful part of taking the drains out was as the tubing passes through the incision wound...the tube is corrigated and it hurts as it comes out of the wound itself, not as it passes through the body itself. Does that make sense?
OMG - I'm such a weak gutted person - there is no way I oculd pull a drain out - I reckon I would slither to the floor in a dead faint!! Please get Craig to do it and you close your eyes!!!
It's great hearing you are progessing so well with yuor recovery. Your sister is right - it will take a while to recovery from the anesthetic. Have a lovely weeken:-)
Just yank the bugger out chick! hahaha.... have a lovely day :)
I am afraid I wouldn't be yanking it out hun I am just like you he he he.
You must be going nuts being inside. I know that I would be and especially since you do a lot of exercise wow.
Big hugs hun... you are going to look amazing when all this is done.
Love Chubbymum
