So So

I'm feeling a bit out of sorts. Had a headache for two days now and my normal one hour walk took me 1:15 yesterday ... just feeling really blaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Maybe its these short weeks, kinda thrown me a bit - what typically happens is I try to fit five days worth or work into four so come the weekend I'm stuffed! LOL Well thats my theory anyway.

We've found a new butcher. Park Ave down in Avalon. There are now officially no traditional "butchers" in Upper Hutt! We've been going to McLays butchery for years. It's my effort towards being a hunter gatherer. I like to go and shop for my meat and fruit veges myself. I like to be able to pick the things I want and then make plans for how I'm going to cook it. I get really pissed off with supermarket and prepackaged meat that when you open up the pkts there are crappy cuts hiding underneath! Admittedly we probably did pay more going through the butcher but I think we got better quality meat and service! So we found a new butcher. Unfortunately (or in Craig's eyes fortunately) the butcher also makes home made sausages, salamis, saveloys etc etc ... mmmmmmmmm all my favourites! However I didnt succumb and managed to stick to good plain cuts of meat without breadcrumbs or sauces! We bought two kilos of steak and I've made two crockpots of stew this weekend. Woohoo!

Blobbed at home last night, couldnt be bothered being socialable or getting dressed up to go out. This morning I could have slept on and on I'm sure of it, however we dragged ourselves out of bed and went into town to the fruit and vege markets - for $16 we got truckloads - there is no excuse to live in this gorgeous country and not take advantage of its wonderful fresh produce. Got home, made four zuchinni quiche which we're going to have one for lunch! WOOHOO

Then I guess I better do my housework ... cant be bothered, but it needs to be done.

Hope I get out of this funk by next weekend, when I get to catch up with the girls in Palmy!

Ahhh... Park Ave Butcher. That was our local back in the 1960s. I used to live just around the corner. I remember going into what was then the butcher on the corner across from KFC, and there was sawdust on the floor and big hooks with the meat hanging - gee I must be old!

Im with you. I only buy my meat from a butcher and my fruit and vegies from a green grocer. Seem to get good quality stuff and the service is better. My butcher actually gets my order ready for me if I ring it through so I can pick it up on my way home from work. Hope you are feeling better.
:o)
