I went geo caching today ... sounds interesting eh? It's basically a treasure hunt and you use a GPS to find the treasure (cache). A guy at work has a GPS and he often tells us about finding different caches in his weekends. He's been all over the greater wellington area finding them - botanical gardens, Rimutaka Park, Belmont Hills. There is a website called Geocaching which provides the co-ordinates for caches in the Wellington area - anywhere in the world actually, so he found us one near work so me and him and another lady from work went out at lunch to go find it. We were really interested to know what a "cache" was! We found the location pretty quickly, only took us about 15 minutes walking and the website also gave some clues. It's quite an overt operation actually getting the cache from its hiding place, because if its in a public place people might wonder what the hell you are up to, or they might be party poopers and throw the cache away! Today's cache was just a film canister with a magnet on the bottom of it which stuck it under a park bench seat. We had to wait for some people to move away before we could get under the seat and see if it was there! LOL Talk about sneaky business eh? LOL ... anyway it was a film cannister with a little piece of paper and pencil in it and you just write your name and date on it and put it back where you found it for the next person to find. Apparently there thousands of these things all over the world and just as many people out there searching for them! Some of them are really small like the film cannister, others are big like a bucket and contain things which you can take away - after you've replaced it with something of your own. I would imagine this being a really fun active sport if you wanted it to be - good for fitness and getting out and about the great outdoors.
Anyway a good day. Work had a morning tea, I took my own. Dinner at the inlaws which was yummy and reasonably friendly to my new diet, although I did eat too much. So all in all I'm pretty wrapped with my day.
