Full On Weekend

Havin an awesome weekend.

Did have dinner up the club on Friday and was so proud of myself with the choices I made. Instead of the standard Chicken burger and fries I had a vegetarian tortilla slice and a spinach & ricotta roll with salad. Not a deep fried morsel in sight! WOOHOO

Saturday morning it was up early, shot down Lower Hutt to the markets for veges - had breakfast down there. First course was a Majabak ?SP (like a pancake with a spicy mince, potatoe and onion filling). Was quite dry and I didnt eat it all. We also bought some steamed Dim Sum - they were fantastic, really garlicy and devine! Then it was off to the butchers got our supplies for the fortnight and stopped at another butcher and bought a huge hogget roast as we were having the family around for late lunch on Sunday.

Home in time to take Calais to the vets for another jab and checkup. Shes healing so well. The vet is really impressed with her progress. She walks quite normally without a limp and there is no pain. Fascinating when she only had the op three weeks ago and she had her bone sawn in half! The problem now is she is starting to get quite frisky and doesnt like this business of relaxing and not jumping around. Poor girl she must get so bored! However, we still need to keep her imobile for at least another 4/5 weeks to ensure the bone is fully healed.

Home again, housework, washing, clean up and then I decided to take Jack for a walk. I wasnt planning on going for a long walk as I had skating in the arvo, but it was such a lovely day and I was quite happy walking along that before I realised where we were, we'd already completed three quarters of the 1 hr circuit and were well and truely on the home stretch! I only just had enough time to have some lunch before heading up to skating!

Had a bloody fantastic workout at skating. I've changed the wheels on my skates and man I can get some decent speed up now! LOL Skating really is so much fun, I'm so glad I gave it a go and didnt let negative Leenie talk me out it! My fatherinlaw also came along today and he got on skates for the first time in 40 years! He used to be a competitive skating dancer! Incredible! It took him about an hour before he was able to do a few turns again and he looked like a natural on those 8 wheels. Jo also made it along and it was great to catch up again.

By the time I got home I was feeling pretty knackered. We cooked tea, opened a bottle of wine, got the fire going and bought the dogs upstairs for a change! It was lovely enjoying our lounge again! First time in 3 weeks! LOL Just like the week before last, both Craig and I crashed out on the couch by about 8:30pm and woke up around 11! Only because Calais needed to go out and woke us up! The fire had long gone out and it was starting to get cold. So once again, after a nice feed and a couple of wines we spent our Saturday night sleeping on the couch! LOL Old married couple that we are.

We were up early again this morning - we decided during the week if the weather was good we'd walk/ride the Rimutaka Incline! We left home just after 7, there was no wind and it was quite a pleasant morning - high cloud, no rain. I walked with Jack and Craig rode my bike. Because we were having the family around for late lunch I needed to get the roast on by 11:30 so we agreed that we'd walk/ride until 9:30 and then turn around and come back. I walked about 3kms and it started to lightly rain so I said to Craig to ride on ahead and get up to the summit incase the weather caved in. I'd already been to the summit when Sarah and I walked at Christmas time. After about 20 minutes the rain really started to set in, but Jack and I continued. I decided to stop under a sheltered area and wait for Craig to come back. I had a drink of water, apple and a protein bar while I waited. After about 20 mins Craig came hurtling past on the bike and we continued back to the car. I'd managed to walk 6kms so that means by the time we finished Jack and I had completed 12kms. The full incline walk is 20kms - I felt quite comfortable that if the weather hadnt caved in and we had a bit more time I would have completed the full walk - although I'm not sure about Jack hehe he was pretty knackered by the time we got back to the car! I was so proud of Craig, it was the first time he'd ever ridden so far and he said it got quite tough at one stage and he almost turned back but pushed on until he got to the summit which he said was really worthwhile. He spent 10 minutes having some food and looking around the bits and pieces before coming back to see how far I'd got. On our way back we saw a few groups of mountain bikers and also a couple of groups of people walking - even though it was raining it wasnt cold or windy so it was a nice outing for sure.

So home again, I got the roast in the oven, vacuuming done and went through the shower. It felt bloody great! My family and Craig's family arrived and we had a fantastic meal together. Craig's mum also gave me the DVD of my triathlon. So we all watched that - omg it was so cool. I had a tear in my eye watching myself do the event. I can still remember the sense of achievement I felt when I went over that finish line and Craig's mum captured me having a bit of a blub at the end. LOL

So thats it - very active 3 days! Tomorrow I think we are planning on chilling out and relaxing for the day. No gardening, no cooking, no pressure just cruising - and hopefully a sleep in!

Yay for doing the incline this morning... I did think of you guys this morning and wondered if you had gone ahead with it but then of course when I woke (almost 9am) it was raining! LOL
Glad lunch went well and good luck for a sleep in and relaxing day tomorrow :)
