Remind me never to go away on holiday again! *just kiddin!*
I've been getting all my ducks in a row again this week. Back to routine ... god I loveeee routine - I feel so empowered with routine. I know exactly what I'm doing, where I'm going like my world is at peace with me again instead of constantly fighting against me LOL
Right where to start ...
- I'm freakin tired! I've been fighting a snuffle for the last few days and I think everything caught up with me today. I didnt make it to the gym this morning but I'm hoping I'll get there over the weekend ... speaking of the gym
- I met up with Hamish on Thursday - I lost 200gms since my last weigh! WOOHOO ... particularly impressive considering the mammoth gain I had last time I went on holiday. However there were some differences this time round
1. Good natural food without overeating
2. Lots of activity - swimming, sea kayaking, walking EVERYWHERE that includes the loo, kitchen, laundry, beach, shops etc
3. Holiday routine - believe it or not I have a camping routine LOL and that includes icecream o'clock at 3:00pm EVERY DAY.
4. Drank lots of water - thats all I drank during the day - water, no fizzies or cordials, just water - the booze came later on in the day!
5. Healthy breakfasts and snacks - cereal, nuts, fruit, rice crackers - I have a new gym programme - its really focussed on my back and core strength, theres a few things on there which are going to be quite a challenge - like the Front Squats and Lunge with Rotation, medicine ball crunch! oh and the rower is back in ... welcome back calloused hands! You can tell a true gym bunny by the callouses on their hands LOL Had a good workout with Hamish on Thursday - I need a name for him. Crusher is a bit harsh, marshmallow man he is not ... I was telling him about my blog on Thursday, I'm planning on sending him the link ...
- I've purchased my new bible ... The Metabolic Typing Diet ... its the supplement to How to Eat, Move and Be Healthy. I've just started reading it, it goes into much more detail about the type of foods to be eating and stuff - one paragraph stuck out on the very first chapter ... it said "Standardised diets and nutritional approaches fail to recognise that, for genetic reasons, people are all very different from one another on a biochemical or metabolic level. In other words, we're all different in the way that our bodies process foods and utilise nutrients. Thus we all have highly individualised nutritional requirements. In the same way that certain car engines are designed o run on gasoline and others cant run without diesel fuel, your body has its own unique "engines of metabolism" and requies specific kinds of body fuel in order to function efficiently". Now that sounds pretty logical to me - no fad statement there. It then went on to say "We all take it for granted that human beings are very differnt on an external level, with respect to hair texture and colour, skin colour, facial features, weight, height, skeletal strcuture and so on. Yet we're largely unaware of, or inattentive to, the biological diversity that exists internally." that clearly makes sense when you think about how Atkins diet works for some people and weightwatchers philosophy doesnt work for others. These things are all mainstream one size fits all approaches, which may initially appear to be doing something, but in the long run, no longer meet our bodies requirements. Anyway, I'm up to Chapter 2 - and its looking good.
- My mate Jacob who left a comment on my blog yesterday is leaving meeeeeeeeeeee, hes one of the sane dudes at work. The clever bugger is heading to Japan to teach English. He'll do great. All the best Jacob, will MISS YOU HEAPS!
- I'm going looking for a motorbike this weekend hopefully!
- It's freakin end of daylight savings tomorrow! ARGHHHHHHH
- Now its bed time ...
