I'm full of a chest and head cold, really came on once I touched down at Wellington I'm sure!
May its got something to do with it only being 15 FUCKING DEGREES HERE when it was 26 over on the Gold Coast? *sigh*
It's bizzare, years ago I really struggled with the heat - now I love it! I think we might retire there - keep buying those lotto tickets Leenie! 37 isnt too early to retire is it?
My arse fits in an aeroplane seat so much better these days, I have about 15cms of belt left over! LMAO! That in itself is so damn liberating :D The flight over was pretty uneventful - but getting to Brisbane immigration found out they were filming Border Security that day - thankfully I DIDNT become famous ... that kind of famous would have ended me up in jail! While I was standing at the baggage carousel the MAF people came wandering along with their highly trained sniffer beagles who promptly went apeshit at both couples standing either side of me ... they all got their bags searched, while I calmly grabbed my suitcase and wandered off to customs LOL
*sneeze* bugger I just snotted on myself.
My sisterinlaw and brother picked me up - they saw me three weeks after my op (my birthday) and both said I was looking much healthier, my face had filled out and I wasnt looking so tired/gaunt. We headed straight to a shopping mall (love that sisinlaw of mine!), saw my niece who manages a perfumery then had some breakfast. We were waiting for the DFO outlet mall to open at 10:00am. I found the Jacqui E outlet store, bought a gorgeous fitted work jacket (was $219, paid $19.95!) and a trench coat (was $179, paid $29.95) - both a perfect fit, fully lined and a bloody bargain! Also bought a tankini top for $14.95 - very cool.
Had a bit of a knees up at their place on Saturday ... couldnt believe I could buy three bottles of EagleHawk red wine for 20 bucks! Luckily I only bought the one bottle - could have got very messy otherwise LOL
Sunday they drove me down the Gold Coast, we had lunch down there before checking me into my apartment and then heading to the Convention Center for the first workshop ... on a friggin Sunday - what the hell was that all about? The welcome dinner was fantastic (in fact the best part of the conference was the social programme! LOL) - it was held at Jupiters Casino - by their lagoon swimming pool. All guests were greeted with a lei and a glass of whatever you fancied, then there were food stations set up all over the grounds. Thai, Indian, Italian, English Fisn'n Chips - was very clever. Met a few people, had my picture taken a few thousand times by some bloody roving photographer that wouldnt leave me alone. Maybe he was a private investigator for my organisation and sending snapshots back to the boss? Prick.
Monday and Tuesday were full on workshops and presentations. My head was spinning by the end of both days - nothing that the end of the day happy hours didnt fix *grin*. Tuesday night was the Gala Black Tie Dinner. What an amazing event! There were about 700 people present - the hall decorations were incredible, the live band was just amazing, the food was out of this world and I felt like the belle of the ball! My profession is still very much an "ole boys network" and on our table of 10 there were only two girls ... I got my arse danced off for the night - great exercise I guess and quite flattering to be in such demand LMAO! Crawled into bed at 1:00am and thankfully didnt need to be at the final day workshop until 9:30am! Incredible how only a three hour time difference can really screw with your body clock!
In between all this I managed to buy two tankini swimsuits, three boardshorts and a lovely top, gamble and lose @ Jupiters Casino, clock up about 40kms walking all over the show and make some good contacts for my job!
I was more than happy to leave tho, while its nice to do something different, its not the same being on your own and so I was looking forward to coming home after my 5 days. I got picked up at 3:40am from my apartment and walked in the door here last night at 9:50pm - I was pretty rooted and called in crook today. My chest is totally clogged, my head pounding and now my nose has gone from being blocked to running like a tap - arghhhhhhhh!
I had my weekly hospital apointment - things are looking fantastic still - although not sure at this point if I'll be able to swim at Christmas time yet - the wound is only about a centimetre long now - but its only 3 weeks until we leave again! fingers crossed I'll be healed enough. Got home just after 9:00am, went back to bed, woke up at 10:40 for a pee, went back to bed and then woke up at 1:30 this arvo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just pottered today - unpacked, did a load of washing, walked down the shops and bought some drugs.
Very excited about tomorrow - I go back to the gym! yippeeeeeeee Cant wait to get these thunder thighs on that damn arc trainer. I'm really feeling and seeing the affects of not being active these past three months. My tummy is actually flabby. BULLSHIT I can hear you all cry - but its true!!!!!!!!!! I have a jelly belly and I dont like it. TOM arrived while I was in Brissie also and that with the heat and lack of exercise my body swelled up like a big fat tomato waiting to burst. Thankfully I didnt! So I need to get back on track and back into routine. That starts tomorrow! YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
