Dec 30th, Jan1st & 2nd - Edinburgh!

We arrived in Edinburgh at nightime - well late afternoon, but it was pitch black by 5 so it felt like evening. The central city is set up like a carnival for Hogmanay - it was so exciting, I was like a kid in a candy store - absolutely took my breath away at the beautiful lights around the park and castle on the hill. Craig's cousin met us from the train and took us back to his flat where we dumped our bags, had a quick drink and went back into town to have a look around. I tried traditional mulled wine for the first time - f'n disgusting - I threw mine away! ewwwwwwwwww.

The next day - New years eve - we went to a little seaside place called Leith and visited the royal yacht Britannia - really interesting - much smaller than I expected and while "tastefully" (for the 70's) decorated it wasnt by any means oppulent thats for sure.

The big street party scheduled for New Years (Hogmanay) and one of the main reasons for us going to Edinburgh was cancelled at 8:00pm in the evening! There was a major storm that blew across most of the UK and because of the high winds and visicious FREEZING rain most of the country's new years even celebrations were cancelled! BUMMER! So we spent the evening tucked up warm and dry at the flat with the coussie and his flatmates and drank and watched telly - bloody 'ell! Typically the next day was absolutely beautiful!

On New Years day we went and visited the Castle, had brunch in a pub and finished the day in a pub ... ironic really isnt it? I also found a new drink - Raspberry Bicardi Breezers ... MMMMMM yummy!

On the 2nd, the day we caught the train back to London - I went Ice Skating - HOLY FUCK! its hard! It's like roller blading but 100 times more slippery ... I managed to do a few laps without holding on ... problem is you get some momentum up and you cant bloody well stop! LMAO! It was fun all the same - I lasted 30 minutes and had to give up as my feet and arches were killing me - didnt fall over though - just as well the ice was bloody cold, wet and looked VERY HARD!
